Emma Sheinbaum is pursuing a BA in Writing with concentrations in Nonfiction and Creative Writing at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, where she also minors in English, Counseling, and The Honors Program. Emma is employed as a peer tutor at the Ithaca College Writing Center and as a staff monitor at the Handwerker Gallery. She is also Editor in Chief of Stillwater Magazine and Symposium: The Honors Undergraduate Academic Journal.
She mainly writes creative nonfiction, poetry, video essays, and literary analyses. Emma has a video essay called “It’s you.” forthcoming in TriQuarterly Review.
Her work has been published in Glass Mountain, States of Mind, Stillwater Magazine, Symposium, ZoetIC, and New York’s Best Emerging Poets Anthology (Z Publishing House 2017). Emma has been awarded the 1st place prize for Personal Essay in the Ithaca College Writing Contest in 2016, as well as the highest honor of the Ithaca College Writing Contest—The Judge’s Prize—for her video essay “I’m Still Trying to Come Up with Grounding Strategies” in 2017.
Emma has been an intern at The Hudson Review, Pegasus Books, Image Text Ithaca, and H.O.W. Art and Literary Journal. Her teaching experience extends to the Ithaca Writers Institute, at which she was the Poetry Teacher’s Assistant and Residential Assistant as well as the Literary Magazine TA in 2016 as well as the Personal Essay TA/RA in 2017.
